Within all of us there is a desire to be helpful to others. Some make this their life's work while others seem to struggle to get out of their own selfish world. The first step in making a difference in your own life is to evaluate how you feel about others.
Do you want more for others than you do for yourself?
What emotions drive you when others get what you want?
It sounds very simple, but how easy is it really? We all want to be selfish and look out for number one. We all want to have more and be more, but we find ourselves despairing when that does not happen. What if we actually took the position of wanting more for others than we want for ourselves? What if we began to judge our worth by the way we feel when someone else gets what they want? It opens an entirely new perspective for living. Sometimes all we really need to do for others is to contribute a warm smile and a kind word.
Here is the challenge that I issue to you! Are you up for the challenge?
Take every opportunity you can this week to find someone to cheer up with a smile and a kind word. Offer empathy and encouragement to someone that you don't know all that well. Celebrate the success of others EVEN if it is something that you had been working hard for and they beat you out. Celebrate the lives of others ....really see their worth beyond the monetary or what they can offer you. See what you can pack into the stream of life this week and celebrate your victories over hurt pride and envy.
We all walk upon the face of this earth and even though our paths may not be headed in the same direction there is not enough time to be judgemental. If you see someone doing something that you find detestable.....send them a silent blessing of peace and joy...smile and be content that you have just done something for them that they could not do for themselves. YOU are the difference.
Ghandi said "Become the change that you would like to see in the world."
Have fun with this and let me know how it worked out for you.
